one thing i forgot to say about my trip to portland: i drove Ganesha the Car, and i was honked at and followed for a mile or so through downtown portland by a car which had an oregon license plate that said KALI MA, which makes me wonder, among other things, about the possibility of getting a license plate for wherever we move to that says GANESHA, like the current one does… and also, generally, about how many people have license plates that have hindu gods on them…
hi sally… i’m watching you! 8)
Well, you may not be able to find them directly, but if your DMV has a way of checking to see if license plates are already taken, you might at least know if there are other worshipers. Beyond that, I don’t think you’re going to have much luck. But you could see if there’s a VISHNU around or something like that.
(And the El Shaddai bit didn’t work because of character limits.)
he didn’t spell EL SHADDAI correctly, which doesn’t surprise me too much (it was either because the correct spelling doesn’t fit, or he doesn’t know how to spell. either one is a viable alternative), but that’s beside the point…
the point is that i’m acutely aware of all the people with christian symbology on their license plates (the one that especially irritates me around here says IM4HIM), what i was wondering about, specifically, was how many specificall hindu deities there are represented on license plates. i’ve got GANESHA, and my wife (who, the last time i checked, is actually a buddhist) has OM SIVA, and i’ve seen one around that says KRISHNA… i know KALI MA exists in oregon, but i wonder how many other hindu deities are around? if there was some way of finding out, maybe we could all get together and have a “hindu pride” parade, or something like that… 8)
Unrelated, but possibly helpful: I saw someone driving a van not too long ago that had the license plate ELSHADDI, so I suspect there are probably more people with godly license plates than you think.
