creepy invasive customer tracking software

BEEPATRICE: Lemon?! Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you since Robot College! How are you?

LEMON: I'm great! I'm moonlighting here to help AIs integrate with their new bodies.

BEEPATRICE: Can you help Roko? She's not feeling well.

LEMON: I know. Our creepy invasive customer tracking software flagged her as being in distress.

BEEPATRICE: O-okay. What should we do?

in the comic above, the three characters are BEEPATRICE, LEMON, and ROKO. BEEPATRICE and ROKO are at “The Body Hub”, where their friend MAY has just obtained a new body, to replace her, literally, “falling apart” old body. ROKO is experiencing a dissociative episode, having just obtained a new body after her old one was crushed. the dialogue is as follows:

BEEPATRICE: Lemon?! Oh my gosh, I haven’t seen you since Robot College! How are you?

LEMON: I’m great! I’m moonlighting here to help AIs integrate with their new bodies.

BEEPATRICE: Can you help Roko? She’s not feeling well.

LEMON: I know. Our creepy invasive customer tracking software flagged her as being in distress.

BEEPATRICE: O-okay. What should we do?

LEMON: First of all, we need to get her away from the creepy, invasive customer tracking software.

OKAY, now we get down to the REAL reason i posted this:

my “creepy, invasive customer tracking software” revealed to me, this afternoon, that i have two customers who live at the same address, which is a single family dwelling in a small town in the midwest.

yeah, there are others, but with them, i know, more or less, that they are either married, or long term partners, because they have lived at, and ordered incense from, the same address for more than a decade. with the people that were revealed to me today, one has been a customer for a couple of years, and the other is a first-time customer. i remember the house, specifically, because, at one point, the guy who has been a customer for a couple of years put something slightly different in as his address, which i couldn’t find on google maps (and i ALWAYS look up, particularly small town, out of the way locations on google maps, because it is a good way to filter out the spam). when i wrote to him about the difference, he specifically said that his street is only four blocks long, and the post office knows him…

and, today, i got a completely different order, from a completely different person, at EXACTLY the same address!

i guess it doesn’t have to be AI to be creepy… 😒

rebuilding

ever since the cloud drive crack of 2021, i have been slowly rebuilding my music collection, half of which was unique tracks and albums that i had downloaded many years ago, as bittorrents, or through using IRC, back when music piracy was more a way of life than it is (or even can be) these days, and, for the most part, that has not been even close to replaced. i have been buying physical media (mostly audio CDs, but a fair quantity of DVDs and vinyl albums, as well) WHENEVER POSSIBLE, to avoid another similar incident in the future.

along those lines, i am 100% CERTAIN i bought a CD by The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra (Das Erste Wiener Gemüseorchester) called The Green Album within the past few years, but i cannot currently locate it, which is somewhat alarming… as i KNOW FOR CERTAIN that i bought it.

at this point, i have gone through all 4 CD books (probably 200 – 300 approximately 7 800 CDs) TWICE without finding it. at this point, the only other possibility is the box of “CDs and covers” which is on the top shelf of the closet/desk, and requires “special handling” to get it down from the top shelf without breaking something or someone, so i’ve sort of been putting it off. 😒

ETA 260111: yep, that’s where it was. 😕

i’m pretty close to having approximately half of what i had prior to the crack, i.e. just under 1TB of digital information. prior to the crack, my collection was around 2.5TB of digital information. what i recovered is about 500GB of information, and, of that, around 100 to 250GB is corrupt. i’m still going through recovered data, searching for the increasingly rare document that i can definitively place somewhere. 😩

pantover

panto is done for another season. next is the moisture festival, in a couple months. there was talk of getting the band together to do a concert at somebody’s house, but i didn’t pick up on the details. there is also a potential Snakez Alive gig at someone’s house, when the weather gets nicer, but i don’t know when that’s going to be, yet.

i’ve already filled my first incense order of the year. over $100 worth of aparajita sent to henlow, bedfordshire, united kingdom, so it’s also the first overseas order of the year. according to my automated “cash register”, i took in a total of $2,490.98 in net sales, last year, which is 37% more than in 2024, and i had 34 customers, which is 3% more than in 2024… woo…?

i got my flu vaccine, and my most recent COVID booster today, so i’m all set to feel like i’ve been run over by a truck tomorrow, but i’ll wait until tomorrow before i determine for sure whether or not that has happened.
