somebody (actually, it was , whoever that is) left spam on my journal! for some unknowable reason, they commented a post that i had made a few weeks ago, and posted a fairly long spam message that had to do with gambling. i deleted it immediately, of course, but i have also changed the settings for comments so that only people who are my friends can comment.
if i haven’t made it clear before,
is now banned from commenting in my journal, i have reported your spamming activities to six apart, spamcop, your ISP, and the washington state attorney general.

Not the teensiest clue. I think I have it set up for Blogger people, anonymous people or people who aren’t Blogger people who want to use their name. Kind of like what you have.

Since I signed up for an LJ account mainly to be able to comment on friend’s LJ spaces it occurs to me that you and I may not have done the official “LJ friend” thing. So I’m testing.

i’m on the verge of blocking the netblocks for asia, eastern europe, and south america to cut down on the spam i get. i don’t know anyone in any of those places, and probably 95% of the spam that is sent to me is from one of those locations. 8/
Working on a couple of vbulletin boards i’ve noticed an increase in spammers with hotmail addresses trying to sell everything from trainers to mobile phones and I am actually wondering who they expect to reply to them and trust them with money when they aren’t using a non-anonymous email addy!
One guy left his mobile number so I rang up and said that I willl let the advertising fees go by this time due to the amount it will cost in the small claims courts to reclaim, but if he does it again it will be profitable for our owner to chase him down for fees. I then got a nasty msn message from an Israeli I know saying not to mess with his friends. I realised that it would be a little bit hard chasing an Israeli based spammer through the courts.
yes, but how do you really feel about spam?
there’s a feature that allows you to delete a journal that will not be used any longer which would prevent the possibility that a user could be hacked or compromised in any way. if they’re not aware enough to use it, then they’re just as bad as a spammer. such people shouldn’t be allowed to use a computer for anything!

ha, cool. go you. it’s pretty ironic considering the long-standing venom you have for spam and the fact that i’ve never seen spam in any other lj comment. i looked at that lj and it seems abandoned, i think it might have just been found and hacked for use as a spammer?
